The revolutionary 1960 album We Insist!: Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite explored issues of social justice and racial inequality through the lens of jazz and poetry. In celebration of the centennial of Max Roach—drummer, bebop pioneer, and civil rights activist—this landmark work is reimagined for today’s world by Musical Director Nasheet Waits, vocalist Cassandra Wilson, poets Sonia Sanchez and Saul Williams, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, pianist David Virelles, bassist Rashaan Carter, and others.

Pianist Danilo Pérez, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Brian Blade—the three remaining members of Wayne Shorter’s legendary quartet—bring a lifetime of genre-blending and electrifying experimentation to the stage. Joined by special guest saxophonist Mark Turner, Legacy of Wayne honors the Shorter’s pivotal contributions to jazz through new interpretations of the late saxophonist’s iconic compositions.

Celebrate the milestone 100th anniversary of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with Maestro Sergio Alessandro Buslje and the Pan American Symphony Orchestra with Sean Mahon on piano. The same year Gershwin died, the Ukrainian composer Nikolai Kapustin was born in the Donetsk province of the Ukraine.
